We are excited to announce that our 2018 Nashoba Carriage Classic will benefit WarHorses for Heroes, a non-profit organization that provides equine-assisted therapy to veterans who have sustained service-related mental or physical injuries. Some of the services provided by WarHorses for Heroes include grooming, groundwork, horseback riding, and advanced horsemanship classes.

WarHorses for Heroes creates a safe environment in which veterans can feel at home and welcome. At WarHorses, volunteers have observed that veterans often feel that they don’t belong or that they “lost” their family after leaving the military. WarHorses for Heroes strives to introduce them to a new and supportive family to help them rebuild their lives in the civilian world. Horses provide stability and a sense of well-being, and help veterans build new skills.

WarHorses for Heroes is based at Oak View Stables in Olive Branch, MS. Recently, representatives of WarHorses were invited to the World Equestrian Games in Tryon, N.C., to give a presentation on their work and the benefits of equine-assisted therapy for veterans.
